6 US Drone Testing Centers Announced!
In order to bring drones to U.S. skies the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) of America has selected six site operators to research and
test unmanned aircraft across the country.
Three universities named the University of Alaska, Virginia Tech and Texas
A&M University-Corpus Christi as well as Griffiss International
Airport in upstate New York, the state of Nevada and the North Dakota
Department of Commerce were among the FAA's picks announced Monday.
Drones have been used mainly for military purposes and other
government-sponsored activities like border surveillance and
environmental monitoring. But the FAA has been working on regulations
for the use of commercial drones, projected to be a multibillion-dollar industry.
